Editor Daedalus Howell
An award-winning journalist and filmmaker, Howell has written for the San Francisco Chronicle and is author of the novel The Late Projectionist. His film work has been seen on Showtime, IFC, Canal+ and SVTV27. He also helms Three House MultiMedia’s cinema division, FilmArt3, and can be heard Fridays co-hosting Mornings in Sonoma on KSVY 91.3 Sonoma. And, yes, that’s his real name.

Photo editor Ryan Lely launched his career after graduating from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a bachelor’s degree in art and physical anthropology. He was staff photographer for the Santa Cruz newspaper Good Times and was the in-house visual artist for Camouflage Inc. He also worked extensively with the Santa Cruz AIDS Project.

Music editor J.M. Berry has been playing music in and around Sonoma and Marin counties since the late 1970s. A veteran of the ‘80s metal scene and the leader of a popular ‘90s southern rock tribute act, he now keeps it close to home playing casual gigs around the wine country. He currently hosts the Sonoma Valley Music Scene and The Guys @ Five on KSVY 91.3 Sonoma. He pens the music column for the Sonoma Valley Sun.

David Templeton is a Petaluma-based journalist. Many years ago, for a brief period, he practiced the fine art of hypnotherapy, with a special focus on creative block and stage fright. His writing has appeared in Strings magazine, Hollywood Life, the North Bay Bohemian, the Pacific Sun and scads of other places.

“Morning After” columnist Deborah Emery is a former Raiderette, model and actress (you’ve seen her in commercials for Miller Beer, Visa and Coca-Cola among others). A mother of four, Emery has been both Mrs. California and Mrs. United States and is currently director of the Emery Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center. A vintner and grower, Emery is also president of the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley.

Lisa Summers is a freelance journalist based in Sonoma where she lives with her husband, four children, six bicycles and two worm-composters. She has a B.A. in both English and environmental studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and is a graduate student at Sonoma State University. She is currently finishing her first novel, a western gothic.

After months spent playing hot potato with her poisoned bottle of Zin, novelist Kate Williams may finally make someone drink it. Her story in seven parts concludes with this issue, but don’t worry, she’s got lots more where that came from. A freelance writer whose work appears in many magazines, she lives in Sonoma, where she’s hard at work on her second book.

Kate McFarland is the editorial assistant for Three House MultiMedia and is active in student politics. Her piece on the Holiday Home Tour featuring the HGTV sweepstakes house, is her first for FineLife Sonoma Magazine.
